Trust Yourself...

Thick white hard frost underfoot, thick white mist around me and thick white cloud above me this campervan morning. It’s around minus two and feels it. Everything encased or bathed in a white hue. The morning crowd of starlings in the top of the ash in earnest calls and responses. There is the smallest of beeezes that pushes the mist along. It swirls, covers and uncovers. Tree, building and bush submerge and emerge only to disappear once more. A misty ebb and flow of a morning. As I sit the view becomes totally fogged in and I find myself almost in solitude, but for the noise of the birds and the morning commute. A conversation around valuing yourself and your contribution yesterday comes to mind. I wrote briefly yesterday about contributing and following on from that the difficult art of valuing yourself. The balancing act when you are self employed of working, but also valuing your contribution. Valuing your experience, expertise, your knowledge, your wisdom and yourself. C. S. Lewis wrote :

“ We are what we believe we are “

There is a sense of not just valuing yourself and your skills but also also trusting your worth and your contribution. According to Van Goeth :

“ As soon as you trust yourself you will know how to live.”

It has taken a wee while to value myself and my work, to celebrate my contribution, to also trust myself and be comfortable with saying no. Lovely days people.

“ The man of genius inspires us with a boundless confidence in our own powers “ Ralph Waldo Emerson.
