The Walkers Arc.

Updated: Dec 15, 2022

No snow in the lakes except on the peaks, though a thick, thick frost and out and about in minus three trying to get some pictures, so a later check in than usual this campervan morning. Geese on the lake, swans swimming and a few gulls over head. A couple of other photographers out, so some sporadic conversation, but it’s too cold, well it is for me. Cloud ebbs and flows over the far peaks, cascades down slopes and across water. Mist dances over the water. After a while the sun clears the Cumbrian Mountains, colours change, frost intensifies in colour and brightness, time for coffee. A beautiful day of walks and views yesterday. A few observations on walking in the lakes and the arc of the walker. First group sensible footwear, jeans, outdoor jacket wooley hat, next category, walking boots, outdoor trousers, reasonably priced jacket, special wooley hat, next category, expensive walking boots, trousers, really expensive jacket and labelled hat and top notch rucksack and walking sticks. Then the battle hardened category ; t-shirt, shorts, boots and a cap. Lovely days people.

“I like long walks, especialy when they are taken by people who annoy me.” Noel Coward
