Fearlessness.

A pretty stormy morning this campervan morning, coming to you from inside the van. Although the rain finally stopped, fierce winds have blown down the valley and across the lake most of the night. Rain necessitated a move late last night, due to ongoing flooding issues. Been a busy night. It’s still dark, heavy clouds swirl over head and a gusty wind cleaves its way through trees and bushes, bending and swirling at its will, the van rolling on its axle. And as if to make a liar of me it starts raining again. So spits and spats on roof, running down windows, though much lighter than it has been. So a dark, stormy start to the day. Nature appears to be hunkered down to for the moment. A wee bit of birdsong, but it’s difficult to make out from where I am hiding. So sat here watching the morning unfold and riding out what’s left of the weather. Not much travelling yesterday, more hunkering down, reading and watching the day unfold. Like Caroline Grenville wrote :

“ It’s the unpredictability of the countryside that draws me, the not knowing what I’ll encounter outside of myself “

It was pretty unpredictable yesterday. I was also reading yesterday from a fabulous book that :

“ To live entirely for oneself is a huge luxury, a luxury aspects of this society encourage… but it clogs and narrows that arteries of the heart “.

I have been reflecting on the society created and enforced on us by corporations to live FOR oneself and the impact it has had. The hardening and clogging of the arteries to many peoples heart. And the ridiculous noises these people make. The efforts of many to soften this, create change, connection, community and open hearts. Long may the struggle and hope of change be fuelled and continue. Lovely days people.

“ Nothing is more dangerous… than that sense of citizenship, fearlessness. And communion with the world that is distinct from the blind patriotism driven by fear “ Rebecca Solnit.
