Explorations and Uncertainty.

Another warm campervan morning. The sun clearing the hills and already it’s feeling like a hot one. An early morning sky of two halves, one clear and blue the other cloudy and white. The air is warm and still almost listless, everything hangs motionless, a sense of holding on to their energy before the heat arrives. Sounds of Swallows, Crows and one call that I cannot recognise at all. It’s still relatively quiet and that sense of a pre morning hush. Parked up close to the centre of the small village of Voltaggio, a short drive east from yesterdays vineyard, sulphur springs, Roman bridges and narrow winding streets were the order of the day, fresh Foccacio laced with sultanas ( Apparently local to Voltaggio ), saints and statues, rivers and woods. A fairly gentile introduction to Italy. The focus of the day and in fact parts of this break are to try and stay off the beaten track as much as possible and sample a bit more of the unknown. The physicist Brian Greene wrote :

“ Exploring the unknown requires tolerating uncertainty “

And that was the glory of yesterday and sampling real Italian life beyond the tourist trail, though there is a must to dip into that too. A short posting this morning, hitting the road. Lovely days people.

“ Traveling is the ruin of all happiness! There’s no looking at a building after seeing Italy.” Fanny Burney.
