Expectation...

Dark and grey once more this campervan morning. A chill on the air and sporadic rain. Birds are busy, a few hefty Crows in the Oak and a couple of Starlings in the Ash. A Robin bobbing in and out of the drizzle. It’s damp, heavy sodden ground, fallen leaves, large puddles and soaked hedges you get the drift. The light is heavy too, thick grey cloud overhead. So the start of another week. Following on from yesterdays CVM, where I was involved in a conversation around expectation. The expectations we place on others and ourselves. I worked in an atmosphere where expectation on children was huge. Expectation from school, staff, peers, family, culture, media, society and the self. The fear of letting any one of these down. The real impact this has on mental health. The expectation we place on ourselves in response to outside influences. The author Robert Jordan writes of men drowning in the sea of other peoples expectations. Time to stop placing expectations on others and on yourself. Lovely days people.

“ Most people are not really free. They are confined by the niche in the world that they carve out for themselves. They limit themselves to fewer possibilities by the narrowness of their vision.”

V.S. Naipaul
