Courage.

Updated: Sep 15, 2023

Thick heavy grey cloud and a cool breeze this campervan morning, becoming darker and greyer as I write. A thin chill hangs in the air and a dull drab light to contend with. The calls of various Robins around me, accompanied by the staccato call of a Magpie in the Oak, answered some distance away. Cries from nearby Crows who remain unseen and the usual suburban Cockerel. Geese pass over head on their travels to different climes. My coffee feels especially welcome this morning. A continuous drone from the road fills the air as the week now appears to be in full swing. A mind in three places this morning. One in the world of tomorrow, mentally and physically prepping for a 149 person drum circle, another part Iost in the reviewing of the pictures and film of Shetland and Orkney for a forthcoming campervan morning YouTube posting. The other bit ? Well the other bit is trying to stay present and soak up the morning. A challenge and a half this morning. Yesterday was a day of rich conversations with good friends from around the globe. In one of those conversations we explored permission to stop. The difficulty in giving ourselves the freedom to sit for an hour and read without being pulled in different directions or feeling the pressure to be productive. It seems like one of the biggest tests of our cultural and societal upbringings, the shackles of having to be productive. The negativity attached to being still, or seeming to be non productive. However, if you don’t give yourself permission to change your world, who will ? As I sit here I am challenging myself to not be busy thinking about other stuff that will need to be done in good time. Giving myself permission to do nothing, giving myself the freedom to be. Bit of a ramble this morning. Lovely days people.

“ Freedom isn't about having permission to do whatever we want... it's about having the courage to do whatever fills our life with meaning.” Bill Crawford.
