Connection is Strength...

Three gulls circle against a fragmented sky, for some considerable time their calls and replies cover the sky. It’s a warmish campervan morning. Rumbles of humanity here and there. The birds are busy, a chatty flock of starlings in the Ash and a talkative blackbird in the Oak. A solitary magpie dances in and out and then away. One of the squirrels from the drey, sits on the oak watching me carefully, before flitting away. The ground remains sodden and thick under foot, although it is dry this morning. I have been reflecting on the writing around ‘working in the shadows’ and the connections I have with people who work for good in the shadows. Those building community, those working in the mental health field, climate change activists, musicians, those working in the additional needs sector. The people that are working for good and making a difference. The work being done to bring these areas into the light, to challenge preconceptions, the able, the bloated and the norm. Building connections and where there is connection there is strength. Lovely days people.

“ Do you know why we have the sunflowers? It’s not because Vincent van Gogh suffered. It’s because Vincent van Gogh had a brother who loved him. Through all the pain, he had a tether, a connection to the world. And that is the focus of the story we need – connection.” Hannah Gadsby.
