A slow dawn this campervan morning. The rain has finally stopped, for now, but puddles and mud are the order of the morning. The senses are overwhelmed by the sight, smell and almost taste of dampness. The light, heavy and grey, trees and hills yet to clear the darkness. Once again the crows boss the soundscape. Though there is at least one Robin and possibly something else in the mix. Sitting with coffee and watching the morning manifest. As I do rain begins to fall again, lightly, but it’s there on the roof of the van. A perfect morning, as are all mornings, to release the challenges of yesterday and look forward to the day ahead. Riding the challenges has been a real test of my character and others around me. Those I call friends and who I hold dear to me, Robin Hobb wrote ;
“ That is the challenge Companion. To take what has happened to you and learn from it. Nothing is quite so destructive as pity, especially self-pity. No event in life is so terrible that one cannot rise above it.”
Yesterday challenge was most definitely a companion, almost at every step and every turn. Although there has been no pity, there is a striving to rise above it, embrace and move with the day, rather than wither under its weight. So looking forward today to rebuilding, welcoming newcomers and the day ahead. Lovely days people.
To the women in my life :
“ Each time a woman stands up for herself, she stands up for all women.” Maya Angelou.
