Adulting as against Silliness.

Well hello October and where did you sneak up upon us from ? The fourth one on this campervan morning journey. A warmish start, the sky a perpetual slow moving dull white above my head. Gulls this morning, lots of gulls, wheeling, circling the sky full of calls and replies. I can hear crows somewhere once more, but they remain invisible to the eye. The smaller birds remain quiet, possibly as a result of the bigger boys in town. The trees still full, lush and green. A nearby apple tree heavy with fruit. The sky greying as I sit. A chill attached to an intermittent breeze plays over the scene, the usual whispered conversations of rustling leaves play out around me. It’s the first of the month and a self care Sunday to boot. I always used to feel that October was the turn towards winter, but it feels that autumn is yet to cast its spell fully. Though I sense that once I have returned it will be well under way. Reflecting on a day of contrasts yesterday the ups and downs of adulting and being an adult. To many serious decisions to make and conversations to have and not enough silliness. Life needs silliness. My inner child usually quite close to the surface needs a bit of feeding. Though it is loving the opportunity to watch the morning unfold this morning. The big birds have flown and the Robins are back in full force. Today will be devoted to more silliness, well that’s my intention a counter to the ridiculous amount of adulting that needs to be done. Also a useful exercise for self care Sunday, the use of silliness. Lovely days people.

“ Being silly is still allowed, not excluded by adulthood. What's excluded by adulthood is thoughtlessness, so be thoughtful and silly.” Hank Green.
